HENRY BROCK - DECLARATION OF INTENTION - SEPT. 27, 1907

NOTES:

This is the declaration of intention (the first step towards becoming a citizen) for Henry Brock [Harold's uncle]. Henry was the older brother of Naomi Brock, and in 1914 he married Leah Rosenthal (so he was Harold's uncle in two ways).

Here are my notes about this document:
- Henry's place of birth is Lomzha, Russia (Poland was at that time part of the Russian Empire). This is the same as the birthplace of Abraham Rosenthal (Henry's future father-in-law) according to Abraham's 1915 declaration of intention. (Here's a link to information about Lomza, Poland and its Jewish community.)
- Henry's last foreign residence is Warsaw. Perhaps he (or his whole family) had moved from Lomza to Warsaw?
- Henry's address is 223 Madison. This is the same address that Naomi listed nine months earlier as the address of the brother-in-law with whom she was going to stay (Hyman Rothschild). Perhaps Henry, Naomi, their sister (____? Rothschild), and their brother-in-law Hyman were all living together?
- This gives Henry's date of birth as May 5, 1884. In his 1918 draft registration, Henry gave the birth date September 30, 1884; and in his 1942 draft registration he gave it as April 10, 1884. (At that time, many immigrants did not know their precise date of birth.)
