• The ship, the S.S. Noordam, sailed from Rotterdam on Sept. 2, 1916.
• Naomi's occupation is given as "housewife."
• Although the modern transcription says "Ethnicity," the actual column headings in the ship's manifest are: "Nationality (country of which citizen or subject)" and "Race of people." For Naomi and Harold these are filled in as "Russia" and "Hebrew." (At the time, much of Poland was part of the Russian Empire.)
• "Last permanent residence" is given as country: Russia; town: Warsaw.
• "Name and complete address of nearest relative or friend in country whence alien came": Naomi's father is given as "F. Rock, Razaminska 43, Warsaw." I see from Google Maps that in Warsaw there is a street called Radzyminska; perhaps this was Naomi's street? See Radzyminska 43, Warsaw, Poland in Google Maps.
• The manifest seems to give "Rock" as the name of Naomi's father, rather than "Brock" (perhaps this was just a misunderstanding or error?).
• Harold's age: 2 years and ? months (I can't read the number of months).
• Naomi's age: 26 years and ? months (I can't read the number of months).
• The manifest indicates the passage was paid by: Naomi's husband / Harold's father.
• For Naomi, under the heading "Whether ever before in the United States; and if so, when and where?" it says ""yes" and then under "Year or period of years" it says "1907/4" (which presumably means for 4 years beginning in 1907?) and under "Where" it says "Brooklyn."
• NEW note added Sept. 2015: Relative or friend going to join: this is given as A. Rosenthal, 270 Sorehage (??) Ave., Brooklyn. The street name is hard to read. I browsed through a list of Brooklyn streets (today) beginning with S, and the only one remotely close appears to be Saratoga, so perhaps this says 270 Saratoga Ave.? UPDATE: This must indeed say 270 Saratoga, as I later found a 1917 draft registration for Henry Brock (Naomi's brother) with the address 270 Saratoga, and also a 1915 census record giving the same address for Henry & Leah Brock (i.e., Naomi's brother Henry and his wife, Albert's sister Leah). So presumably in 1916 Albert was staying with his Leah and Henry (or at least living in the same building as them). 270 Saratoga today in Google Maps.
• NEW note added Sept. 2015: In the fields to the right of "Relative or friend..." it seems to say "Sept. 29" (with an additional letter preceding "Sept."?), and below that it says "chicken pox (see screenshot. Perhaps this means Naomi and Harold were detained at Ellis Island until Sept. 29 (i.e. 11 days after their arrival) because one or both of them had chicken pox? UPDATE, 2017: I later found a record of Naomi's and Harold's time in quarantine.
• The letters "VL" next to Harold's name stand for "Verification of Landing"; according to JewishGen: Markings in the Manifest's Name Column, this indicates that at some later date Ellis Island staff were asked to "verify the landing" and made a note on the manifest that they had done so.
• For place of birth, Harold's is listed as the same as the row above, i.e. the same as Naomi's, i.e., Warsaw (see screenshot).
