• Here are my notes about the death certificate:
  • Document received by mail from NYC Dept. of Records, March 2016.
  • The address where Julia and Benjamin were living, and where Julia died, is the same as their address at the time of the 1940 census: 1879 Prospect Ave. See this address today in Google Maps.
  • The cause of death is not given, just "natural causes."
  • The doctor's name is Saul Schwartz -- probably a coincidence rather than a relative? His address is nearby on Prospect Ave.
  • This gives Julia's date of birth as August, 14, 1879.
  • As expected, it gives her parents' names as David Weiss and Helen Greenbaum.
  • The place of burial is Mount Hebron Cemetery, which is in Flushing, Queens. See the location of this cemetery today in Google Maps.
• The following information from the Mount Hebron Cemetery website gives details about the Julia's date of death (Dec. 16, 1947), the location of this grave, and the name of the burial society:

• In the introduction to her 1980 family tree, Gladys (Schwartz) Kaminsky wrote, about David Weiss (Julia's father):

  He also helped form the Kaiser Franz Joseph Lodge, a fraternal order with cemetery rights for the members. During World War I Kaisers were hated, and the name was changed to Justice Lodge. [...] Most of their family became members and are buried in the large Justice Lodge plot in Block 3, Mount Hebron Cemetery, Queens, N.Y.C., now overlooking the World's Fair site."

  However, David Weiss's burial, about 40 years earlier, was in a different cemetery than Julia's (the Washington Cemetery in Brooklyn).
