I believe in the Secular Humanist philosophy that our life
choices and understanding should be guided by human reason and
compassion, not by belief in supernatural deities.
I support the
Humanist Association of Toronto,
Humanist Canada,
the Centre for
Inquiry Canada (I'm an advisory fellow),
the U of T Secular Alliance,
and the
Canadian Secular Alliance.

I believe in sharing with the less fortunate, and each year make
significant financial donations to organisations such as the Daily Bread Food Bank and
Oxfam Canada.

Though not a serious athlete, I do enjoy recreational sports, including
basketball
(pick-up, plus my high-school team and various intramural
teams in times gone by), tennis
(I'm a member of the Trinity College Tennis
Club), softball (most notably with the "Supermartingales" feisty
intramural team in the 1995-2001 period),
soccer (including great pick-up games organised by
Mark
Fruman; see my official player profile and
a game write-up #1 and
game write-up #2 that mentions me),
and even occasionally an indoor-soccer team (Skewed Banana and
later Buttercups).
